5. Captain Smith

 

To the west end of Museum gardens stands Captain Edward Smith who was the captain of the RMS Titanic that sank in 1912. Unveiled in 1914 and Sculpted by Kathleen Scott, the bronze statue stands as a reminder of the Staffordshire born captain and the many who lost their lives in the unfortunate and tragic event.
